How to Succeed While Working Remotely - The CanvasPop Team
By Amy Wright | Apr 9, 2020
We’re lucky to live during a time when many of us can continue to work despite not having access to our offices at the moment. As long as we have a laptop and a decent wifi connection, we can continue to help our company propel forward.
In the office, we have the opportunity to make our workspace our own. We can put photos, plants, a table lamp, etc., around to ensure we feel comfortable and ready to tackle our jobs. Working from home, especially when we weren’t prepared to do so, can be a bit of a challenge.
If you’re one of the lucky ones who are able to continue to work from home during these unprecedented times but find yourself struggling to do so, here are our foolproof tips from some of the CanvasPop team!
Have a dedicated workspace
It’s important to have a space where you can focus on your tasks without distractions. This should be a space in your home away from your bedroom to ensure that you don’t negatively impact your sleep schedule. It also helps to put your mind in the right headspace in order to tackle your day.

Don’t forget to take breaks
It can be way too easy to eat lunch while sitting at your desk continuing to stare at your screen. You may do this unknowingly or press through to meet deadlines, but this is never a good idea. Take your break, go for a walk, do a workout, make a nice lunch. Take the time to step away so that you can come back to your work with a fresh set of eyes and more energy to get you through the rest of the day!

Make a to-do list
Keeping track of your responsibilities while simultaneously crossing them off as you go can be a huge productivity booster. This to-do list should be separate from any sort of company/team-wide to-do list tracker that is used. It will help you keep your eye on the ball and it provides a way to quickly reference what you have accomplished on any given day.

Utilize the time you save from commuting
Since you no longer have to spend time in the morning getting ready, putting together a lunch, and commuting to and from the office, use this time to focus on something that will help prepare you for the day. Whether it be meditating, reading the news, practicing yoga, journaling, household chores, etc., keep using this time well. It will help your productivity immensely!

Personalize your home office
You likely keep a photo of the people, places, or things most important to you at your desk in the office, so why not keep this tradition alive while working remotely? Creating a personalized canvas, collage, framed, or even a triptych print can completely change your at-home workspace. Inspiring wall art can be a huge motivator to accomplish all of the tasks on your daily to-do list.
